- Reaper is a multi- track audio and MIDI recording, mixing and mastering, editing and processing digital workstation for both Windows and MAC OS. Reaper 5 was released this summer and brings many improvements such as FX VST3 support, video support and performance, new GUI layouts, new automation options, extra fancy new theme and much more.
- Reaper is ranked 1st while Cubase 10 is ranked 8th. The most important reason people chose Reaper is: Reaper lets users change to different themes, supports the use of a wealth of (free) extensions and has a lot of options when it comes to rendering.

REAPER has experimental native support for Linux, and the Windows version works well with WINE. REAPER supports all macOS X versions from 10.5 * to 10.13. Some features may require OS X 10.7+.
I've been a Reaper user some years now, never had a problem except some memory issues lately with windows 10 after very long usage during the day.. I'm doing very basic stuff mostly mixing, editing, recording before i move the whole project to a studio and mix the whole album there. I use it also on the go (portable usb) with my tablet which is comfortable for my job. Most annoying thing is that most studios using Cubase pro, and is a bit pain in the ass to extract in wav, folders etc and move the entire project like this.

Since my budget isn't an issue, what are the main advantages Cubase has over Reaper? Or its a marketing trick?
Should i buy Cubase pro or stay in Reaper?
Cubase 7 Artist
Hi!. I've been playing around with my Cubase LE for a few months now (got it as bundled software with my TASCAM Interface). It's limited but I can't afford the full versions yet.
I just downloaded the free Reaper program that everyone here talks so much about. I guess it's limited too but all features are fully funtional until you decide to upgrade for like $50.
Any opinions on which software program is better when you can't buy full versions at this time? Any advice which way to go? I am an audio guy for recording most of the time but I usually add some MIDI tracks in there too (with my external electric Yamaha PSR-290, my electroniv drum machine (Boss), and so on. I also have real amps, guitars, a bass, etc. So I try to use both.
Is Reaper just as compatible with all systems? Or is Cubase a better way to go when one can afford to get fuller versions?
