  • The Cobra GPS 1000 DLX GPS receiver has been designed to give users the most advanced satellite navigation technology available. This device operates on 12 channels and carries a range of features. It has been specifically designed for the use of hikers. This 12-channel GPS receiver uses Accelerated Satellite Acquisition Protocol II (ASAP II) technology, which allows it to acquire its position faster than most devices on the market. This Cobra GPS receiver also boasts of superior reception, especially in urban areas, canyons, and dense foliage. The Cobra GPS 1000 DLX GPS receiver is also compatible with the Wide Area Augmentation System (WAAS), which was developed by the FAA to provide improved GPS navigation for aircraft. This technology enables corrections to be updated via satellite, consequently providing accuracy as little as 3 m. This 12-channel GPS receiver comes pre-programmed with U.S. and Canadian highways, and European country boundaries. This Cobra GPS receiver enables users to store up to 50 different routes using up to 50 points on each route. It is also capable of storing up to 500 waypoints with names and symbols. The mapping functions of this device are benefitted by the included Rand McNally StreetFinder software, PC interface cable, and a 32 MB Secure Digital memory card. This Cobra GPS receiver is waterproof to IPX7 standards, has a minimum operating temperature of 5 degrees F, and a maximum of 158 degrees F. The device requires two AA alkaline batteries for operation. It has dimensions of 2.8 inches wide by 1.3 inches deep by 6.1 inches tall and a weight of 8.8 oz.
